John Phillip Vohsen

John Phillip Vohsen, 72, of Troy, Missouri, passed away on Monday, July 29, at his residence. He was born on September 2, 1946, in St. Louis, Missouri, son of the late Charles J. and Mary O. (Riddle
) Vohsen.
John graduated from Pattonville High School in 1964 and served his country in the United States Marine Corp from September 18, 1968, until he was honorably discharged on June 5, 1974. He worked for several years as a carpenter for St. Louis Home Installation and St. Louis Acoustics. John was a member of Carpenters Union and the local Hawk Point VFW Post #7560. In his earlier years, he enjoyed working in his yard and took great pride in his garden. He loved the time he spent at the VFW and the friendships that turned into family.
He is survived by his one son, Rodney Vohsen; one grandson; one brother, Dave Vohsen of Foristell, MO; one sister, Sharon Vohsen of Foristell, MO; one nephew, Mike Jakkle; and his adopted family at the Hawk Point VFW Post #7560. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, August 7, 2019, at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, located at 2900 Sheridan Drive, St. Louis, MO 63125. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to Disabled Veterans National Foundation in care of Kemper-Millard-Keim Family Funeral Chapel, P.O. Box 222 Troy, MO 63379.
