Kenneth Lorton

To My Friend and Classmate:

Roland Cox was a dear friend to Ken & Donna Smith Lorton.  He stood up for them in October 1967 at their wedding, maintained a friendship off & on during Rolands lifetime and ours.  He and Dawn Owens Cox, his wife were special in the early years of our married lives after overseas deployment for Ken...If my memory serves me correctly, Roland had finished his deployments prior to mine... it's a shame, but some things are fuzzy these days.  Roland's life ended much too soon because of Agent Orange exposure in Viet Nam as a Cargo Load Master with the Air Force.  I missed his funeral because of health issues and had too much pride to tell Dawn exactly what was going on... Walking was not easy for me then.

It's a short journey we have in this life till we reach the other side so I've become more transparent to others...more thoughtful of others...and much more beholding to the Lord Jesus Christ.  HE keeps giving me do-overs so I can hopefully get it right one day.  So as a tribute to my friends departed, your memory is more clear to me than say last weeks at he "where ever".  The great times we had, both in and out of school, in and out of service, and with our families starting to grow with dear wives, children, and a full steam ahead life.

Remembering Roland Cox ..."May your soul rest in Peace my Brother"....  Ken Lorton
