Gary passed away June 24, 1995 after a long battle with cancer. In 1968, he was united in marriage to Marilyn Roberts. He had two children, son Eric and daughter Melinda and one granddaughter, Jordan at the time of his death.
He received a Bachelors degree before joining the US Air Force where he received the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Small Arms Expert Marksmanship Ribbon and earned the rank of Sergeant.
